Experience Tuscany

Tuscany is well known throughout the world for its incredible food, wonderful wines, culture and its friendly welcome.

The typical image conjured up is of green rolling hills and cypress trees. These are typical of southern Tuscany, whilst the two regions of northern Tuscany, Lunigiana and the Garfagnana are more rugged and mountainous. Tuscany also has a 230 km coastline with many deep, soft, sandy beaches. The more famous beaches are in Versilia, which is backed by the Apuane mountains which glisten white from the world’s finest white marble of Carrara.

There are several islands off the coast, the largest and best known is the island of Elba, which is reached by ferry, just one hour from Piombino.

Discover the secrets of Tuscany with us

All of the holidays we offer are bespoke and are completely customisable to your specific needs and preferences.

We can include various experiences, such as cookery lessons, wine tasting, sailing, dolphin watching, hiking, cycling, golf and yoga. For families with older children, we can offer some incredible experiences for them. Our guides will collect the children from the hotel in the morning and take them for a day or a half day, cycling, trekking, horse riding, canoeing or river trekking. We can even arrange this within the World Heritage Cinque Terre. The parents can choose to join the children on these experiences or to simply have a quiet day relaxing or perhaps enjoy a day of sightseeing.

We work with a number of hotels in Tuscany and Elba. The majority of them are family owned and managed. Most are quite small, perhaps 20 to 40 rooms, the largest have around 100 rooms. This means that the hotels are run with passion, often passed down through the generations.

As well as hotels, we have a number of villas and agritorismo, which are working farms, offering accommodation, usually self catering.

The town of Montecatini Terme, which is about mid-way between Pisa and Florence, is a spa town. All of the hotels we work with here are either 4 or 5 star. However being a spa town, the usual customers tend to be more mature customers who prefer the weather to be a little cooler, meaning that the hotter months of July and August are low season. We can offer substantial child reductions, even during July and August.

Our hotels here all have private pools and all provide complimentary pool towels. There is a railway station in Montecatini with a direct service to Florence in the east, just one hour away. Lucca and Viareggio are to the west. An easy change takes you to Pisa. Perhaps take the train into the Serchio Valley to explore the Garfagnana, an area of authentic Tuscany where few Britains visit.
